Kapha

Kapha persons have a slow metabolism which is why they put on weight very easily. The Kapha dosha is comprised of earth and water elements, and reflects those earthy qualities. A Kapha person will be structurally bigger, with bigger bones and a more easy-going, stable, gentle personality.

Vata

Vata is a force conceptually made up of elements ether and air. The proportions of ether and air determine how active the Vata is. The amount of ether (space) affects the ability of the air to gain momentum. If unrestricted, as in the ocean, air can gain momentum and become a force to contend with.

The negatively affected Vata person can become emaciated…resulting in a poor digestive system. Emotional imbalance too adds to poor digestion. So, normally, these personalities are skinny and hyperactive.

Pitta

Pitta is a force created by the dynamic interplay of water and fire. These forces represent transformation. They cannot change into each other, but they modulate or control each other and are vitally required for the life processes to occur. The small intestine, stomach, sweat glands, blood, fat, eyes, and skin are the seats of Pitta and as such need to be kept gently in control with the right diet.
